Naftna Industrija Srbije’s (NIS) recently held a ground breaking ceremony to celebrate the start of construction for its refinery modernization project in Pancevo, Serbia. The project is currently the largest capital investment in Serbia and a major component to the country’s energy industry.
“CB&I has played a key role in NIS’s refinery modernization project to date, and we look forward to executing the next phases of this project,” said Tareq Kawash, who leads international operations for CB&I’s Engineering & Construction operating group. “This collaboration builds on CB&I’s long-term relationship with NIS, which began in 2009 when we provided integrated solutions for a hydrocracker project in Serbia.”
In 2015, CB&I was awarded a contract to provide the technology license and front-end engineering and design for a delayed coker unit that will be integrated with the refinery's existing fluid catalytic cracking unit and hydrocracker. After successfully providing these services, NIS awarded CB&I a contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction management in 2016.
CB&I’s refining capabilities and services include advanced process technologies and engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction. We offer solutions for clean fuels production, including low sulfur gasoline and diesel, as well as a wide range of refinery process units and related ancillary facilities.
