CB&I was awarded a contract to erect three heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) and associated equipment for Delmarva Power & Light at the Hay Road Power Plant in Wilmington, Delaware. The power plant features three Siemens 100-megawatt gas turbines and one steam turbine.

The project allowed the plant to switch from simple-cycle power generation to more energy-efficient combined-cycle generation. The HRSGs convert exhaust heat into steam that is used to power the facility's gas turbines.

Our scope of work included erection of three HRSGs consisting of 45 modules; installation of steam drums, new exhaust stacks, stack diverts, piping and other components; and modifications to the plant's existing stack.

We performed most of the work with our own people and managed the subcontractors that performed the remainder of the work.
