BP Chemicals contracted CB&I to build a maleic anhydride (MAH) reactor vessel with an internal diameter of 36 feet and height of 105 feet and an absorber vessel with an internal diameter of 16 feet and height of 88 feet. Our scope of services for the project in Lima, Ohio also included design, detail engineering, procurement, fabrication, field erection and testing.
The MAH reactor vessel is a skirt-supported vessel with a hemispherical top head and cone bottom. The material is SA516 70 Normalized. The cyclones were type 304L stainless steel, while all shell and head seams were 100% radiographed.
