For more than a century, CB&I has provided value-added construction services for our customers. Our projects can be found on six continents and include many construction industry "firsts"-the first floating roof tank for storing oil, the first double wall LNG storage tank and the first LNG peak shaving plant, among others.

We provide a broad range of field construction services that include modular and conventional ("stick-built") construction, project management, construction inspection and management, scheduling, welding and quality assurance, plant start-ups and commissioning, operator training and a variety of other field services. In addition to new construction work, our projects have included plant relocations, retrofits, disassembly, upgrades, debottlenecking, shutdowns and turnarounds.

Best practices, better results. Over the years, we've honed our project management skills and developed best practices for managing the most complex of projects. We are known for our ability to successfully execute projects almost anywhere, even in remote and logistically challenging locations. We have an extensive network of engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction facilities, so we can quickly mobilize project resources whenever and wherever they are needed. And with offices worldwide, we have people who understand the legislation, culture, business and labor practices of the communities where we work.

We believe in direct-hiring and training local craftsmen for our projects whenever possible. In communities that have a pool of potential applicants, we develop a training program that addresses the specific needs of the project and the applicants. All candidates receive intensive safety instruction as well as craft skills training. We've found that direct-hiring ensures the safety and quality of our projects in addition to providing economic enrichment to the community.

Technical innovations. When it comes to field erection, we are one of the best in the business. Our in-house construction technology, welding and quality assurance, and metallurgy experts provide valuable expertise for our field crews around the world. We ensure our crews utilize the best tools and technologies, apply proven work methods and deliver consistent, superior results. Our technical proficiency has resulted in several innovations, including automated girth welding; scaffoldless tank erection; specialized equipment for performing heavy lifts in congested work sites; and use of ultrasonic technology for examining structures constructed of 9% nickel steel.

We also pioneered modular construction of process plants as a means of shortening project schedules, controlling quality and, in some cases, reducing costs. Modular components are fabricated and assembled at our own shops and can be shipped almost anywhere for field installation. By minimizing fieldwork, we reduce the project's impact on the customer's operations, minimize delays due to inclement weather and enhance safety and quality control.

Our health and safety program has earned us one of the best safety records in the industry and has received acclaim from customers, industry associations and safety organizations.
