CB&I has provided storage solutions to the oil and gas industry for more than 85 years. Our history of storage innovations includes the world's first floating-roof tank, the first all-welded steel tank and the first Hortonspheres®. We were the first company to construct cryogenic gas storage tanks from 9% nickel steel, which is now the industry standard for low-temperature storage.
We are known globally for delivering storage systems that offer years of safe, reliable service and low total cost of ownership. Our projects can be found on six continents and include individual tanks and spheres as well as peak shaving plants and turnkey terminals for storing crude oil, chemicals and liquefied gases at a variety of temperature and pressure conditions.
Our integrated approach. We provide lump-sum, turnkey solutions for storage projects, handling everything from engineering and design to procurement, fabrication, construction, commissioning, operator training and startup. Our unique, integrated approach is possible because we employ the best mechanical, structural and civil engineers and skilled shop and field personnel. And we're one of the few EPC firms to maintain in-house fabrication facilities.
By providing single-point responsibility, we help tank and terminal owners lower costs, shorten schedules and reduce risk. And we ensure every phase of the work is performed according to our stringent quality and safety standards. Project oversight is simplified, eliminating the duplicative effort and waste found in other contracting methods. As a result, our customers can focus on their core business operations instead of managing multiple contractors.
A global network of project resources. The cornerstone of our success is our ability to deliver storage projects anywhere in the world. We draw upon our network of fabrication and construction facilities, procurement offices, engineers, project managers and construction crews to provide the right people, materials and equipment for the job. With offices worldwide, we have people who are familiar with local regulations, permitting requirements and logistics. And we direct hire and train local labor whenever possible, benefiting the communities and economies where we work.
